After a late October weekend sweep at home versus the St. Louis Frontenacs, the Chicago Bulldogs went on the road looking for a repeat. While, they didn’t pull off the sweep, the Bulldogs went unbeaten over the weekend with two wins and a tie, giving them a 5-0-1-0 overall record against the Frontenacs this season.
On Friday night, it was Vince Bartkowiak, Joey Close and Matt Kostopoulos leading the way with four points each. Chicago jumped out to an early four-goal lead and was in the driver seat for the rest of the game. They peppered St. Louis’ Nicolas LaChance with 60 shots on goal in a 9-4 victory. Zack Adams was between the pipes for the Bulldogs and made 22 saves and picked up the win.
The Bulldogs were successful yet again on Saturday, blowing out the Frontenacs 8-0. Close had another four-point effort, including three assists. Adam Marshall scored a pair of goals to go with a helper. Kostopoulos had two assists. Bartkowiak, Joe Mavrin and James Coates each potted a goal to go with an assist. Matt Young saddled St. Louis with a goose egg, stopping all 15 Frontenacs shots.
Sunday’s game was a much different story. The Bulldogs and Frontenacs traded goals until time expired with the score at 4-4. The Frontenacs avoided a sweep despite not earning a victory, while the Bulldogs closed out the season series unbeaten versus St.Louis. Even though Chicago mustered 60 shots on goal again, only Bartkowiak, Ryan West, Griffin Mason and Close were able to beat LaChance. Zack Adams made 12 saves for the Bulldogs in the draw.
The Bulldogs improved to 12-9-1 and return home to play Illiana on Friday and Saturday.
