Bulldogs split with Peoria

The Bulldogs went on the road to Peoria and split the weekend set with the Mustangs with a 5-4 win in overtime Saturday and an 8-5 loss Sunday.

Chicago 5 @ Peoria 4 (OT) – The Chicago Junior Bulldogs' Scott Coash Jr scored 1:26 into overtime to beat the Peoria Mustangs, 5-4 (OT). Chicago overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Junior Bulldogs trailed 4-2 after a goal by Peoria's Andrew Scofield at 19:08 in the second period. Chicago tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Niko Moulakelis at 19:18 in the third period. The Junior Bulldogs were led by Coash Jr, who had one goal. Chicago also got points from Matt Blaszkiewicz, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Matthew Adams, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Moulakelis, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Noah Carter also scored for Chicago. More assists for Chicago came via Michael Ellis, who had one. Peoria additionally got points from Marshall Gevers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Austin Wisely, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Peoria also got a goal from Clayton Layne as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Jack Power Wayvon, who had one and Kai Barber and Andrej Buchko, who contributed two each. Sam Harden rejected 38 shots on goal for Chicago.

Chicago 5 @ Peoria 8 – Levi Armstrong grabbed one point to lead the Peoria Mustangs to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago Junior Bulldogs. Peoria was sparked by Armstrong, who finished with one goal. Armstrong scored 15:45 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Peoria. Tyler Shures assisted on the tally. The Mustangs forced Chicago goalie Troy Pierce to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.  Peoria additionally got points from Chance Homerin, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jason Hoehn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Clayton Layne, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Peoria also had goals scored by Marshall Gevers, who had two and Nick Conner and Andrew Scofield, who each put in one. More assists for Peoria came via Thomas Kolaz, who had three, Joe Power Wayvon and Austin Wisely, who contributed one each, and Kai Barber, Andrej Buchko, and Mark Candotti, who each chipped in two. The Junior Bulldogs were led by Scott Coash Jr, who had two goals. Coash Jr scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:49 into the second period to make the score 4-4. Coash Jr's next tally on the power play made the score 6-5 Peoria with 8:35 left in the third period. Others who scored for Chicago included Scott Herbster, Griffin Waters, and Toms Taurins, who scored one goal each.
