Chicago boosted by Garapolo’s play in net, beats Battle Creek 4-1

The Chicago Junior Bulldogs relied on the sparkling performance of Joey Garapolo in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Battle Creek Revolution.

Chicago was led by Vince Bartkowiak, who tallied one goal. Bartkowiak scored 14:32 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Chicago. Toms Taurins picked up the assist.

The Junior Bulldogs\’ offense rang up 71 shots on Battle Creek\’s net.

Chicago also had goals scored by Kyle Pierce, Luke Morin, and Christopher Wachal, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chicago came via Jeremy Szczurek, who had two and Matt Blaszkiewicz, Daniel Marotz, Isaac Lamb, Matt Kostopoulos, and Justin Stein, who each chipped in one.

The Revolution stifled Chicago\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Battle Creek was led by Alex Olsen, who scored the team\’s only goal. Olsen scored on the power play 4:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. The Revolution had gained a power play chance when Szczurek was whistled for holding. Blake Thompson assisted on the tally.

Joey Garapolo made 25 saves for the Junior Bulldogs on 26 shots. Chicago incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Battle Creek\’s Zach Kooi stopped 67 shots out of the 71 that he faced. The Revolution incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
