Ryan Martin was all over the ice for the Wisconsin Whalers, as he tallied two goals in Wisconsin\’s 5-2 win over the Chicago Junior Bulldogs.
Martin found the back of the net 8:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin and again while 16:45 into the first to make the score 3-0 Wisconsin.
The Whalers kept Chicago\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Paku made 37 saves on 42 shots.
Wisconsin also got points from Kaleb Morley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wisconsin also had goals scored by Easton Halbert and Connor Hyde, who each put in one. More assists for Wisconsin came via Connor Morgan, Dan Addie, and Jason Hoehn, who contributed one a piece and Mitch Riese, Clayton Janecke, and Tim Tarvis, who each chipped in two.
The Junior Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Chicago could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Junior Bulldogs average 4.2 goals per game. Chicago forced Wisconsin goalie Connor Fissel to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.
The Junior Bulldogs were helped by Ryan Maksimovic, who registered one goal. Maksimovic scored on the power play 7:54 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wisconsin. Chicago earned a power play opportunity when Addie was put in the box for hooking. Joey Mavrin picked up the assist. Trevor Foley also scored for Chicago. In addition, Chicago received assists from Luke Morin and Jarret Walt, who contributed one a piece.
The Whalers\’ Fissel stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Wisconsin incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Junior Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
