The Chicago Jr. Bulldogs opened their home schedule with a weekend split against the Peoria Mustangs, last season's Central Division winners.
Peoria 3 @ Chicago 2 – In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Peoria Mustangs escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Junior Bulldogs. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Tyler Shures's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Mustangs were paced by Shures, who finished with one goal. Shures scored 16:11 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Peoria. Andrew Scofield provided the assist. Others who scored for Peoria included Marshall Gevers and Andrew Scofield, who scored one goal each. The Junior Bulldogs were helped by Dane Kalas, who racked up one goal. Kalas scored 1:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chicago. Chicago also got a goal from Max Piper as well. Ross Lipic recorded 24 saves for Peoria.
Peoria 2 @ Chicago 8 – The Peoria Mustangs could not stop the Chicago Junior Bulldogs' Scott Coash Jr, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-2 win. Coash Jr got on the scoresheet 9:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:40 into the first and at 3:52 into the second. Chicago also got points from Dane Kalas, who also had one goal and two assists, Henry Hearon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Niko Moulakelis, who also had two goals and one assist. Chicago also got a goal from Michael Howard as well. More assists for Chicago came via Matthew Adams, who had two and Toms Taurins, who had three. Chicago's Troy Pierce stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced.
The Bulldogs host the Wisconsin Whalers Friday night at 8 and Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
